Body shells/Panels
Body shells/Panels
At Nitro Composites, we specialize in crafting premium carbon fiber resin-infused body shells and panels that redefine performance and aesthetics.
Our Process:
- Preparation: Begin by preparing the mold or tooling to the desired specifications. This involves cleaning and applying release agents to ensure easy part removal later.
- Laying the Carbon Fiber: Precut carbon fiber fabric or preforms are meticulously laid into the mold according to the desired orientation and ply schedule, ensuring optimal strength and performance.
- Resin Application: A carefully measured amount of resin is mixed with any necessary additives or catalysts to achieve the desired properties. The resin is then evenly applied to the carbon fiber layers.
- Vacuum Bagging: The mold, carbon fiber layers, and resin are then vacuum-sealed within a bag to remove air and create a tight seal. This ensures uniform resin distribution and consolidation of the laminate.
- Infusion: With the assembly under vacuum, resin is drawn into the carbon fiber layers through carefully placed inlet ports. This process, known as resin infusion, allows the resin to saturate the fibers thoroughly.
- Curing: Once the infusion is complete, the entire assembly is placed in an oven or subjected to ambient conditions for the resin to cure. Curing times vary depending on the resin system used and desired properties.
- Demolding: After the resin has fully cured, the vacuum bag is removed, and the part is carefully demolded from the tooling. Any excess material is trimmed, and the part is inspected for quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Post-processing: Depending on the application, additional post-processing steps such as surface finishing, painting, or assembly may be required to prepare the part for its final use.
